ALLOWANCES
Various types of allowances are paid to the central Govt. employees either to compensate for increased cost of living (e.g. Dearness Allowance) or as a partial funding to meet a specific expenditure (e.g. Transport Allowance) or as an incentive (e. g. Family Planning Allowance). Further, certain allowances are paid to all central Govt. employees (e.g. Transport Allowance) while some allowances are paid on satisfaction of certain conditions (e.g. House Rent Allowance) while some other allowances are paid only to central Govt. employees posted in specific locations (e.g. Island Special Duty Allowance).
